The vice-president, besides the function of replacing the rector in his faults and impediments, has attributions that allow participation in academic and administrative activities, in the various activities developed by the University. In particular, administratively the Central Library, the Agricultural College Dom Agostinho Ikas (Codai), the Information Technology Center (NTI) and the University Publishing House are linked to the Vice-Rectory.
Currently the position of deputy dean is being filled by Professor Marcelo Brito Carneiro Leão, who was elected for the 2012-2016 quadrennium.
